Mixers tested with this Gin

  • Fit: 1 out of 3

    Pure yuzu

    Goldberg Japanese Yuzu Tonic

If you like the tonic, the gin won't spoil anything for you here. A little lavender comes through.

  • Fit: 2 out of 3

    Spicy and floral

    Goldberg Mediterranean Tonic

You get lavender, sweetness and a good base of bitterness. The lavender stops short of soapy, which is good. But it's a very floral mix.

    It's ‘okay’

    Goldberg Tonic Water

It doesn't blow me away. A bittersweet mix that isn't particularly exciting. No character.

    Watch out!

    Goldberg Ginger Ale

Flavour-wise, this launches a rocket. With two boosters: one wants to head for ginger ale, the other for gin country. The longer you taste it, the more the gin comes through. But then it gets almost soapy.

    Bitter!!

    Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water

A fiercely bitter note, honestly from A to Z. A little citrus remains. But the gin? Somehow, there's no trace of it.

  • Fit: 1 out of 3

    Lavender sweets

    Windspiel Tonic Water

This mix produces a little bitter lavender sweet. The sweetness is certainly there, almost as if there's agave syrup in the mix. I'm not sure.

    In a bed of roses

    Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic Water

Wow! The tonic manages to turn the lavender towards rose petals. It's sweet and a little bitter too. A very floral mix. A rose bomb! But you have to like that.

  • Fit: 2 out of 3

    Yep, it works

    Mistelhain Trend Tonic

Floral again, but without the rose. The tonic is very fruity in itself, and that wins out in the mix too.

  • Fit: 2 out of 3

    A heavy hitter

    Doctor Polidori Dry Tonic Water

Okay, this is a tough mix. Pretty bitter at the start, with a little floral character after a moment. But overall, quite a good combination.

  • Fit: 1 out of 3

    A crisp taste of summer

    Doctor Polidori Cucumber Tonic Water

Nobody's getting rid of the cucumber. There's a dry, bitter start here too, but the cucumber and sweetness fight their way forward.

    Crazy meets intense

    Mistelhain Ambition Tonic

This might be the most intense floral note so far. The gin really brings the tonic into play, and vice versa. These two like each other. Great for the hardcore floral fans.
