Mixers tested with this Gin

Fruity and tart
Goldberg Tonic Water
I like this. A fruity note, not too bitter, a gentle rosemary twist, all tied together with gin. Nice over ice too.
-
-
Grapefruit galore
Doctor Polidori Dry Tonic Water
Perhaps too intense over time, but the grapefruit comes through beautifully. Juniper and rosemary provide a good background note. A little edgier than with Goldberg Tonic Water.

-
Bitter peel
Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water
This combination makes the gin a little too bitter for me. The tonic tips into quite strong bitterness. Not undrinkable, but I don't find it ideal.

-
Bitter again
Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic Water
This doesn't entirely win me over either, though it's better than with Fever-Tree Indian Tonic. The lemonade sweetness cushions a lot here. The rosemary aromas are lovely.

-
Artificial
Goldberg Mediterranean Tonic
Unfortunately, this combination goes down the drain — pun intended. The mix develops a flavour that reminds me of artificial sweetener, and it doesn't win me over.

-
A solid oddball
Doctor Polidori Cucumber Tonic Water
For a moment, you can forget that cucumber is involved, but it comes back. A decent mix.
-
-
Turns towards rosemary
Mistelhain Trend Tonic
A decent option. It isn't my favourite, but the rosemary and juniper are clearly there.
-
-
Mmm…
Mistelhain Ambition Tonic
I think the Trend Tonic does a better job here. The grapefruit comes through nicely. But the tonic is simply very dominant.
-
-
Binary
Goldberg Japanese Yuzu Tonic
Zero or one? I'm not sure about the rating. Too harsh, reminiscent of mothballs and pretty fiercely bitter.
-
-
Booomm!
Goldberg Pink Grapefruit Soda
Obviously, the grapefruit hits hard here. But it gets that lovely tart note that lets you recognise the gin. Looooots of ice, and summer can come — or stay.
